Over there - sex during menstruation |

|
While I was reading the political thread over there, also peeked at the porn thread. Seems that those ladies and some of the men advocate abstaining from sex
during menstruation. I sensed, however, that their repugnance to the idea was not necessarily exclusively based on bible scripture about the uncleaniness of
menstruating female. Cultural conditioning perhaps? I would feel slighted if I was considered undesirable because of bleeding. Of course, bleeding limits
the range of intimate activities available. Not looking for divulgence of personal info here but want to get a feel for attitudes toward romantic intimacy
during that time.

personally, we abstain...i don't want the mess, the bleeding makes it so i feel less, and as the area is more tender it tends to hurt....i also am not a
long time heavy bleeder...so there is a period of MAYBE 4 days where we don't...i don't mind while i'm spotting (unless i'm feeling
particularly crappy or crabby) and often jason will get oral during that time....

We don't because I don't want to when I'm menstruating. It's physically very uncomfortable for me, and frankly I'm just not in the mood
then. As far as their men being too frustrated... well, honey... a little time abstaining because YOU want to just serves to remind him who owns the pussy.

When I was in my 20's I had nothing against it. As my age has increased and my libido has decreased and my periods have become heavier (although still remain short), I lack the desire during that time of the month. And now that I have piles and piles of laundry, I don't really want to wash the sheets the day after. Reluctantly preparing for monsters (ds9, ds7) to attend public school <shudder>

I tend to get UTI's if we have intercourse during my period. I guess things have thinned out, so to speak, and I just don't have as much fun during
that time of the month as I used to. Otherwise I have no issues about it at all. In fact, the sex used to help ease cramps when I was younger.

Nope, not happening here. The very thought of doing more laundry squelches any desire. Hubby has two good hands for use during those times I'm not
available.

No- I feel gross and stinky during that time (even though I wash constantly). Plus I'm just not comfortable- back pain, cramps, tenderness.

I tend to have the part of the period where I feel gross and stinky, and a longer period around it when I'm just not in the mood. And if I'm not in
the mood, I'm not going to do much of anything to humor him. DW#2 tends to be a bit more accomodating, which is nice for DH as our cycles seem to have
synchronized somewhat.
I haven't looked at the porn thread in quite a while. I figured I said my piece in it. Heathen poly classically homeschooling mom to a kid named after an elf |

We do. I usually want to wash the sheets after the rare in-the-bed (we cosleep) encounter anyway. But it's also a good time for fooling around in the
shower, or sex that doesn't involve removing my pants.

Well, that's no longer an issue for me, but when it was, it depended on how I felt. The first few days when I had killer cramps and heavy bleeding it was
out of the question. The remaining 3-4 days (I usually went 5-7 days), it didn't bother either of us.

Thanks for the responses. Several of you mentioned discomfort during menstruation. Not only was I fortunate enough not to have suffered menstrual cramps until
later in life after I had given birth once or twice, but I also experienced increased libido during periods.
Like most first time mothers-to-be, at one point I was anxious about how I would "feel" the upcoming pain of labor. Would it be sharp, dull, or what? Women told me it was like menstrual cramps. Interestingly, after the birth of my 2nd child, I did experience occasional light cramps during menstruation. Ro, we used the shower for intimacy during periods too. Or we would place a dark towel on top the bed. That is one towel that did NOT GET REUSED and was promptly laundered.

I've done it. I wouldn't be totally against doing it again, but I don't go seeking it out at that time.
